Penton Names Carol Wilson as New Editor in Chief of Telephony

Penton Media has promoted Carol Wilson to editor in chief of Telephony magazine and its Web site, www.telephonyonline.com. In her new role, Wilson will be responsible for the editorial direction of Telephony magazine and its supplements, Wireless Review and The Independent, as well as e-media content and events for the publication group. Wilson replaces Dan O’Shea who is leaving the company to pursue other interests.

Wilson, who has covered the telecommunications industry for the past 22 years, rejoined Telephony in 2004 as editor at large. She began her telecom career as news editor at Telephony in 1985, and became editor of the magazine three years later. She later served as a founding editor of two magazines – Inter@ctive Week and The Net Economy – as well as a news and information Web site, Broadband Edge.
