Beginning with its July/August issue, Design New England: The Magazine of Splendid Homes and Gardens, introduces an expanded focus on "Green" design as a regular department covering environmentally friendly developments in furnishings, landscape and architecture. The magazine, published by Boston Globe Media, also welcomes Molly Jane Quinn as a new associate editor and adds three additional contributing editors to its fold: Meaghan O'Neill, Estelle Bond Guralnick and Bruce Irving.
The new recurring Green feature will highlight products, people and design ideas that will help readers design, build and live in more environmentally responsible ways. The July/August issue features a roundup of outdoor chairs made of sustainable or recycled materials; a profile of Boston landscape designer Michael Blier, who created eco-savvy outdoor spaces for a luxury condominium building; and a focus on a Maine house that won the nation’s highest LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating.
