Metro has appointed Dianne Rinehart to the position of Editor-in-Chief; Metro English Canada. In this role, Dianne will lead the editorial department, effectively coordinating the interests of the reader and the objectives of the Metro brand. She will provide leadership in the development of an editorial vision and a strategic plan, which she will execute across Metro English Canada editions. Working collaboratively with all Publishers and Managing Editors across the country, Dianne will move the organization to higher levels of success.
Dianne comes to Metro after a long and successful career in journalism. She has worked in senior roles in the magazine industry including: Managing Editor at Ski Canada; Associate Editor at Flare; and most recently, Editor-in-Chief at Homemakers. Dianne has extensive experience in the newspaper industry as well, including three years as a senior reporter for the Vancouver Sun and five years as a parliamentary correspondent in Ottawa for The Canadian Press. She has also worked as a freelance columnist, writer and editor for both newspapers and magazines and has a strong interest in the academic world: she taught magazine feature writing at Ryerson University's School of Journalism and is currently an MA Journalism candidate at Carleton University. She earned a Bachelor of Arts after studying journalism from the University of Western Ontario.
